Sotto le stelle
an event by Orsolina28 in collaboration with the volunteers of the Cavaglià Observatory
Orsolina28, in collaboration with the volunteers of the Cavaglià Observatory, presents Sotto le stelle: an immersive experience dedicated to the discovery of the night sky, designed for those who wish to pause, look up, and rediscover the wonder of the universe.
Friday, June 26, 2026, starting at 9:30 PM, the Open Air Stage becomes an open-air observatory.
For two hours, away from the distractions of the world, families, curious individuals, and enthusiasts of all ages can be guided through constellations, myths, and celestial objects.
No astronomical knowledge is required — just the desire to pause and look up.
The event will be held in Italian.
For those who wish to extend the evening, it is possible to arrive early and dine starting at 7:30 PM at the Serra dei Limoni.
Program of the evening
The evening will be divided into several phases, designed to guide each participant towards a deeper understanding of what they will see.
Introduction to Astronomy
We’ll start with a brief introduction to astronomy: we’ll learn what stars are, how they form, why they shine, and how to find our way around their “home,” the night sky.
Naked Eye Observation
Before using astronomical instruments, we’ll learn to observe the sky the way humans have for thousands of years: with just our eyes! We’ll identify constellations, celestial cardinal points, and useful landmarks for navigating the stars, gaining the foundation needed to truly understand what we’re looking at.
Telescope Observation
Now that we have reached this point—and are undoubtedly better informed—we will move on to instrumental observation using two telescopes. One of these will be used to view a wider expanse of the sky, while the other will be used for a more detailed observation of celestial object
Celestial Mythology
To wrap up the evening, we’ll step into a special realm: the world of celestial mythology. The constellations we see today are not just clusters of stars, but characters, heroes, mythical creatures, and adventures that have been passed down for millennia.
